Our First Nordic Walk Outing for 6 months

I've always looked forward to the first Saturday of the month as it is when my Nordic Walkers join me for a get together in locations anew for a half day walk and, with any luck, lunch in a country pub. For obvious reasons that has not been able to happen for the past 6 months and I know some people have found the lockdown, with its isolation and change of routine hard to cope with. So now, with people feeling a little more relaxed about going out and mixing with friends I decided to put on a walk. I was pleasantly surprised when 18 of my walkers attended. I had been checking the weather all week and was hoping for a dry day (not that it stops anyone but it is nice to have pleasant weather for your first outing). After an unexpected downpour, fortunately of short duration, we enjoyed our first proper walk of the year and then instead of our usual pub or cafe lunch, I suggested everyone bring a picnic.
I know it is important to stay active but what I also know is that people need people, and the social side of any exercise class should never be underestimated. I'm looking forward to checking out our next walk which will be in a couple of weeks time.
